Effect of Periplaneta americana meal on immunity and antioxidation of broliers
Periplaneta americana L. meal was used as a kinds of feed additive to broliers. 495 I -day-old male broliers were divided into 5 treatments randomly. The results showed that the immunity organ indexes, lymphocyte stimulating index, flu vaccine and new castle disease vaccine antibody titers, content of globulin in serum of 2% P. americana meal treatment were significantly higher than those of the control (P<0.05). Morbidity rate and mortality rate after inoculation with Escherchia coli of 2% P. americana meal treatment were significantly lower than those of the control (P < 0.05). The content of SOD, GSH-PX in 2% and 1 % P. americana meal treatments were significantly higher than those of the control (P < 0.05), while that of MDA were significantly lower ( P < 0.05). It was suggested that P. americana meal could increase the immunity and antioxidation of broliers.
