Comprehensive selection of 8 years old Acacia auriculiformis clones based on multiple traits
Twenty-eight 8 years old straight-stem Acacia auriculiformis clones were investigated by height, diameter at breast height ( DBH) , height under branch, crown width and volume in Zhangpu Zhongxi National Forest Farm in Fujian Province. Results showed that phenotypic traits varied significantly among clones indicating a satisfactory clonal effect. Repeatabilities of DBH and vol-ume were relatively high, reaching 0.43 and 0.45, respectively. Then 28 clones were divided into 4 categories by comprehensive sco-ring, from premium, fine, intermediate and defective, with means of genetic gain being 5.47%, 2.73%,-2.8%,-5.71%, respec-tively. Among them, No.3 clone had the higherst genetic gain, with the genetic gain of volume reaching 6.85%. According to selec-tive ratio of 50%, typeⅠandⅡwere selected. Finally, referring to rankings of volumes for 4 and 8 years old clones, No.9, 1, 5, 7, 8 and 21 clones were identified as the type of stable fast-growth, and No. 10, 12, 3, 23, 6, 29 and 7 clones were late fast-growth.
