Effect of selective logging on the surface fine root biomass and soil nutrient of Pinus tabulaeformis plantation in Taiyue mountain
To investigate the influence of selective logging on plantation development, surface fine root biomass and soil nutrient of 40-year-old Pinus tabulaeformis plantation were analyzed. The results showed that fine root biomass did not varied between selective logging and non-logging plantation during growing season ( P>0.05) . Biomass of surface fine root a single tree in selective logging plantation was greater than that of non-logging (P<0.05). Soil nutrient, including total nitrogen (P<0.05), organic matter(P<0.05) , ammonium nitrogen( P<0.05) , nitrate nitrogen and available potassium, were higher in the surface soil of selective logging plantation than non-logging. While total phosphorus was higher in non-logging than logging plantation ( P<0.05) .
