David Der-wei Wang summarized the lyrical discourse of Shih-Hsiang Chen and other scholars,regarded lyricism as a historical view that connected ancient and modern times,and analyzed the relation-ship between lyrical tradition and Chinese modernity.Among them,Shen Congwen and Hu Lancheng were the selected cases from David Der-wei Wang's discussion,reflecting typical portrayals of lyrical conversion and betrayal.The two authors had similar emotional carriers in their creations,both reflecting the inheritance of classical civilization.In addition,they all chose lyricism as a way to mark their voices in the era of revolution,but for different positions and purposes.Through dialogue and comparison,the insights of historical role of lyricism are gained,the background of lyricism is explored,and the dialecti-cal relationship between lyricism and history is clarified.
