Cultural Identity and Life Experience——Historical Changes and Promotional Strategies of Sense of Root among Canadian Lion Dancers
The art of lion dance has spread all over the world and has become a cultural symbol for the Chinese community in Canada to display its cultural identity, strengthen its cultural identification and con-vey life experience. It also implies the historical changes of the two generations of lion dancers based on the sense of root in life experience. The sense of root is the deep connotation of the life experience and cultural identity of senior artists, the core of which is the traditional Chinese culture. However, the iden-tity of the new generations in Newfoundland,Canada, who are affected by different cultures, has de-creased significantly, and the sense of root of the lion dancers has gradually diminished with generational differences. The specific manifestations of the weakening of the sense of root for the new generation lion dancers are continuous cultural conflict, obvious westernization trend, prominent self-awareness,strengthened rule concept and life aesthetic consciousness, etc. The expansion of aesthetic connotation based on common sense is an effective strategy to enhance the sense of root of Chinese culture for the new generation lion dancers.
