Cao Yin's desire for seclusion was mainly concentrated in his later years,which was closely re-lated to the political pressure and various diseases he suffered from in his later years. The political role Cao Yin played in reality forced him to keep his ambition for seclusion deep in his heart. Apart from occa-sional expressing directly the hidden interest in seclusion through his poetry,the rest was only vaguely ex-pressed through the writing of secluded images such as "plum" "bamboo" and "crane" in his poetry.
