This study takes the match performance(technique and tactics+running)of Chinese Super League teams under different competition formats as the research object,and selects 816 matches in four seasons from 2018 to 2021,totaling 1 632 sets of data in the method of literature review and mathematical statistics.The characteristics of the teams'game performance in terms of the match results are explored.It is found that(1)competition format has an impact on the match performance of teams with different match results:under the tournament format,the teams use more controlling methods in attack,while un-der the home and away format,the teams favour direct play in attack,and the offensive and defensive transition is more frequent;(2)Regardless of the match results,the teams under tournament format have better offensive organisation,but the teams under home-and-away format are better in creating offensive opportunities and defensive performance;(3)Regardless of the matches results,the teams under tourna-ment format show higher physical demands.
