Achievement Gap and Harmonisation of Gender Performance in the Chinese Sports Delegation at the Summer Olympic Games
This study focuses on the development coordination between genders across different sports in the Chinese team during the 26th to 32nd Summer Olympic Games. It examines the gender gap in past athletic performance, the degree of coupling and coordination, and the underlying rea-sons for these patterns. The research shows that there is a gender gap in the performance of the Chi-nese team during these Olympic Games, with an unbalanced development trend between genders.Men's overall development level is generally lower than that of women. On the whole, the shift from gender disparity to coordinated development has improved the competitive level of the Chinese team. The main factors influencing gender coordination development include the rule of law, economic participation and opportunity, government efficiency, voice, and accountability. For China, the development of the first three factors contributes to gender-coordinated development of athletic strength in sports.Specifically, the rule of law reduces institutional disparities between regions;e-conomic participation and opportunity enhance gender equality in the economic domain;and govern-ment efficiency shortens the internal lag of policy implementation.Although voice and accountability reflect the level of democratic political development, the lack of voice for women in sports participa-tion reduces external attention to women's sports, hindering the coordinated development of competi-tive strength between genders.
