Preparation and Characterization of Self-supporting and Porous Zeolite 4A Monoliths
Self-supporting and porous zeolite has both monolithic construction and porous structure. The self-supporting and porous zeolites 4A monoliths were successfully prepared using metkaolin(MK)as raw materils and polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)as sacrifival template via solvent-free method. The effects of processing parameters on the structure and morphology of products were investigated through a series of analysis such as XRD and SEM.The results showed that the optimal preparation processes for self-supporting porous 4A molecular sieve were:MK and PMMA mass ratio of 5:5,Na and Al molar ratio of 1.2,H2O and MK mass ratio of 1.1,curing temperature of 70℃ and calcination temperature of 550℃ for 2 h.The BET specific area and total pore volume were found to be 393.83 m2/g and 0.26 cm3/g respectively. The zeolite 4A monoliths with regular and dense appearance could be used as integral adsorbent or large volume adsorbent.
