Social Studies of Finance(SSF)originated from 1970s'Social Studies of Science(SSS)and developed in 1990s with the proposed new concept of performativity.The sociology of finance and anthropology of finance examined the financial issues from different disciplinary perspectives and both pushed forwards the social studies of finance.Keynesianism,Monetarism and New Classical Economics all cannot explain why Global Financial Crisis of 2008 happened.More sociologists studied thoroughly the financial issues from perspective of performativity and the study of financial crisis became a very popular topic.Nowadays,social studies of finance have entered the frontier field of finance,such as quantitative trading,high frequency trading and cryptocurrency.
