This article reviews the discovery process of Lactobacillus plantarum and the development of probiotic theory,in order to clarify its position in modern animal husbandry.At the same time,delve into the scientific basis of using Lactobacillus plantarum as probiotics in maintaining intestinal microbiota stability,digesting and absorbing nutrients,enhancing immunity,and improving disease resistance,providing theoretical support for future in-depth research.Systematically review the research progress of Lactobacillus plantarum in the field of livestock and poultry breeding,including its application effects on major breeding animals such as laying hens,broiler chickens,pigs,and cows.Based on relevant research,explain the role of Lactobacillus plantarum in improving feed con-version rate,enhancing growth performance,optimizing reproductive capacity,regulating gut microbiota structure,preventing and re-ducing disease occurrence,and provide scientific basis for improving the economic benefits of breeding.
