Microbial Treatment of Sulfate Pollution in Tailing Water of Rare Earth Mining and Its Influence
The paper reviews and analyzes the research progress in the treatment of sulfate-containing wastewater in the rare earth mining industry.By comparing the currently used methods, such as chemical precipitation, ion exchange, membrane separation, and biotechnologies,it was found that the use of sulfate-reducing bacteria(SRB)for bioremediation offers advantages such as economic efficiency, environmental friendliness, and green safety.Consequently, the key factors of biological methods in improving wastewater treatment efficiency, reducing treatment costs, and minimizing environmental hazards are further summarized. Finally, the development direction, process optimization, and resource utilization possibilities of sulfate-containing wastewater treatment technologies in the rare earth industry are discussed.
