Epidemiological Analysis of 115 455 Cases of HPV Infection and Cervical Lesions in Women in Putian City,Fujian Province
Objective To analyze the epidemiological features of human papillomavirus(HPV)and HPV-related cervical lesions in women aged 35-64 years in Putian City,Fujian Province. Methods HPV typing and cervical cytology results of 115 455 women in Putian City from January 2018 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. We analyzed the epidemiological characteristics of HPV subtypes and cervical lesions, explored the effects of single and multiple infections on cervical lesions, assessed the effects of age on the risk of infection and disease, and used the Chi-square test to compare rates between groups. Results The overall prevalence of HPV infection was 8.41%.The relatively prevalent HPV types were HPV52,58,16,39,18.Therein,HPV16,HPV33 and HPV18 were most prevalent in invasive cervical carcinoma(ICC)patients. The cervix cytology was normal in 97 632 cases(84.56%),cervical inflammation in 865 cases(0.75%),atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance(ASC-US)in 985 cases(0.85%),atypical squamous cells that could not be excluded from high degree of squamous intraepithelial neoplasia(ASC-H)in 348 cases(0.30%),lo w-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion(LSIL)in 668(0.58%),high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions(HSIL)313(0.27%),and ICC 37(0.03%).1 597 cases(16.46%)of females suffered from multiple HPV infection with the most frequently co-infection subtypes being HPV52,HPV58 and HPV16.25.15%of the inflammatory patients were infected with multiple HPV infections. The prevalence of HPV exhibited upward trend with increasing age.The peak prevalence of HPV33 was observed in ICC patients aged 40-44 and 50-54 years. Conclusions HPV16,HPV33,and HPV18 are the predominant subtypes of infection in ICC patients.More action should be taken to prevent and treat HPV 33 infection.
