The Garden of the Metropolis Philosophy and Design Works from the Spanish Landscape Architect Enric Batlle
Almost half a century, the innovation of urban planning system and the building of excel ent architecture generated the perfect environment for landscape design development in Spain. The article introduces the Spanish modern landscape architect Enric Batl e and his philosophy and practice of"Garden of Metropolis". The theory of"the Garden of Metropolis"mainly integrates multi-disciplinary knowledge, like agriculture, ecology, art and architecture, serves as the basis of urban form with regional hydrological systems, urban forestry and agriculture, green infrastructure and al ocation gardens. It extremely respects local geographical features, and represents as a new model for open space of sustainable city. Based on the time axis history, the paper wil elaborate his exploration of the theory of“Garden of Metropolis"and the practices of several classic projects.
