The value choice,main content and compilation technology of the eco-environmental code related to the development of a country's rule of law is the concentrated embodiment of a country's ecological culture."The unity of heaven and man"namely living in harmony with nature is the main melody of Chinese traditional ecological culture,and al-so a main line of thinking throughout the development of Chinese society.It is integrated into people's life in different forms such as philosophy,aesthetics and law,shaping the ideological consciousness of the whole society.However,the concept of"the unity of heaven and man"born in the agricultural civilization era has certain historical limitations.It is nec-essary to identify the"excellent elements"in Chinese traditional ecological culture with the conditions and requirements of the times,and to activate the excellent traditional ecological culture with the basic principles of Marxism.The value con-cept of Chinese excellent traditional ecological culture and the sustainable development are intrinsically connected,and the codification tradition of Chinese legal system is harmonious but different from the modern environmental codification.The compilation of Chinese eco-environmental code should adhere to the path of cultural opening such as"all rivers run into the sea",realizing the organic combination of"the ancient for the present"and"the foreign for the Chinese",and contrib-ute a great exemplary environmental code to the world.
