Characteristics of Soil Selenium Content and Crop Absorption of Selenium in Selenium Rich Red Soil Regions of Fujian Province
Based on the investigation of the selenium content in soil and agricultural products in the red soil regions of southern China, the distribution characteristics of selenium in selenium rich red soil and the changes in selenium content in its agricultural products are analyzed. The results indicate that the selenium rich red soil area in southern China is relatively large, but with a certain degree of fragmentation in geographical spatial distribution.Although selenium in soil is associated with a certain number of heavy metals and rare earth elements, the correlation with heavy metals or rare earth elements is not significant. The overall performance of crops produced on selenium rich soil is that the selenium content in edible parts is lower than that in non-edible parts, and the selenium content in crops is significantly correlated with the available selenium content in the soil.Based on the soil characteristics of selenium rich red soil regions in southern China, the effectiveness of soil selenium can be improved by regulating the acidity, moisture content, fertilizer types, and application of conditioning agents of farmland soil in selenium rich red soil regions,in order to increase the selenium content in agricultural products. At the same time, further research and standardization are needed on the techniques of exogenous selenium supplementation and the corresponding health effects of selenium in agricultural products.
