Operation Analysis and Structural Optimization of Axial Radial and Full Radial Shift Converters
The structural characteristics of axial radial and full radial shift converters are introduced.Taking first-stage shift converters one with axial radial structure the other with full radial structure in China as an example, the CO content in outlet shift gas and outlet equilibrium temperature interval of the two structures of shift converters are compared under the same first-stage shift converter diameter, catalyst model and loading amount, production load as well as same catalyst operating time. The results indicate that due to the sedimentation phenomenon of the catalyst loaded in the shift converter during operation, the utilization efficiency of the catalyst in the full radial shift converter is lower than that in the axial radial shift converter, and there is a defect of easy"short circuit"of the airflow. To overcome the above shortcomings,it is recommended to choose axial radial structures shift converters for large-scale shift unit.
