The Effect of Different Planting Modes and Planting Densities on Maize Growth
Field experiments are conducted to investigate the effects of different planting modes and planting densities on maize plant height, stem thickness, chlorophyll relative content(SPAD value)of leaves, yield, and other indicators.Six treatments are set up in the experiment, including two planting densities and three planting modes(equal row spacing, wide narrow row spacing, large equal row spacing),with the conventional density equal row spacing treatment as the control(CK).The results show that increasing planting density can reduce the stem diameter of maize and increase yield. While the yield of the treatments with more densed equal row spacing, wide narrow row spacing, and large row spacing increased by 25.0%,26.2%,and 12.3%respectively compared to the CK treatment. The wide narrow row spacing planting mode can improve the adverse effects of increased planting density on maize growth.
