Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of laparoscopic internal ring narrowing and high ligation in pediatric patients with recurrent indirect inguinal hernia. Methods:The clinical data of 11 children with recurrent indirect inguinal hernia who underwent laparoscopic internal ring reduction and high ligation from May 2021 to Jan.2023 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 10 males and 1 female, with an average age of(4.32±1.87)years.One case was a second recurrence. The average recurrence time(from the first operation to the discovery of recurrence)was(5.3±2.4)months.Results:All 11 pediatric patients had unilateral recu-rrence,and the contralateral inner ring was already closed. The original surgical ligation suture was visible in 9 cases of the recurrence side, and the unclosed inner ring was found inside the original ligation line;the original ligation suture was not seen in 2 cases.Laparo-scopic operation was successfully performed in all 11 cases. The average surgical time was(31.3±8.6)min.All patients received semi-liquid diet 4-6 h after anesthesia recovery and were discharged on the second day after surgery. There were no obvious postoperative complications. The follow-up period was 5-24 months after surgery, with an average of(15.6±4.8)months.No recurrence was found by medical history inquiries, physical examinations, and ultrasound examinations. Conclusions:Laparoscopic internal ring narrowing and high ligation is minimally invasive, safe, effective, technically straightforward with fewer complications in the treatment of recurrent indi-rect inguinal hernia in pediatric patients, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
