Objective:To investigate the effect of video-assisted thoracoscopic internal fixation of encircling rib bone plate in the treatment of multiple rib fractures. Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on 70 patients with multiple rib fractures treated from Jan.2017 to Nov.2023,all of whom underwent thoracoscopic assisted encircling rib plate fixation. The operation time,intraopera-tive blood loss, visual analogue score of postoperative pain, hospital stay, fracture healing, and incidence of complications were recorded. Results:Three to fourteen ribs were fixed, the operation time was(55.5±14.2)min,the intraoperative blood loss was(24.3±5.1)mL,and the postoperative drainage volume was(160.7±20.5)mL.Postoperative CT examination showed that the ribs were well reduced, the chest wall was stable after internal fixation, and the chest wall malformations were all corrected satisfactorily. The rib plate was not loose or broken, and there were no obvious postoperative complications. Conclusions:The effect of video-assisted thoracoscopic internal fixation of encircling rib bone plate in the treatment of multiple rib fractures is satisfactory, especially for patients with hemopneumotho-rax,which has high clinical application value and is worthy of further clinical popularization and application.
