Effects of Montelukast Sodium Combined with Ketotifen on Cough Symptoms and Lung Function in Children with Cough Variant Asthma
Objective To investigate the effect of montelukast sodium combined with ketotifen on cough symptoms and lung function in children with cough variant asthma.Methods 80 children with variant asthma admitted to our hospital from April 2021 to March 2023 were selected as the research objects.According to the random number table method,they were divided into a control group and an observation group,with 40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with ketotifen,and the observation group was treated with montelukast sodium on the basis of the treatment of the control group,and the treatment lasted for 10 weeks.The cough symptoms,lung function and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results Before treatment,there was no statistically significant difference in cough symptom score between the two groups(P﹥0.05).After treatment,the cough symptom scores during the day and night in the observation group were(1.32±0.32)points and(1.27±0.41)points,respectively,which were lower than(1.98±0.58)points and(1.86±0.45)points in the control group,the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P﹤0.05).Before treatment,there was no significant difference in pulmonary function related indicators between the two groups(P﹥0.05).After treatment,the forced expiratory volume in the first second of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,and the peak expiratory flow rate and ratio in one second were higher than those of the control group,and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P﹤0.05).After treatment,there was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P﹥0.05).Conclusion Montelukast sodium combined with ketotifen is effective in the treatment of children with cough variant asthma,and the cough symptoms and lung function indexes of children are significantly improved with high safety.
