The Effect of Pain Point Massage Combined with Balanced Needle Therapy on the Degree of Pain and Shoulder Joint Mobility in Elderly Patients with Shoulder Periarthritis
Objective To explore the effect of pain point massage combined with balance acupuncture treatment on the degree of pain and shoulder joint mobility in elderly patients with shoulder periarthritis. Methods 80 elderly patients with periarthritis of shoulder treated in Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2020 to July 2023 were selected as the study objects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine functional exercise, and the observation group was treated with pain point massage combined with balanced acupuncture. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The pain degree, the mobility function of shoulder joint and the level of inflammatory factors were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the Visual Analogue Score of the observation group was(2.28±1.33)points,which was lower than that of the control group, the range of motion of shoulder joint was(90.24±5.79)°,(91.15±5.84)°,(153.69±9.31)°,(166.69±8.56)°,and(43.54±3.92)°,which were all greater than those of the control group, the level of tumor necrosis factor-α was(17.03±2.31)pg/mL,and the level of interleukin-6 was(50.57±3.24)pg/mL,both of which were lower than those of control group, and the differences between groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of using pain point massage combined with balance needle therapy on elderly patients with shoulder periarthritis is significant. It not only reduces pain and promotes the recovery of shoulder joint mobility, but also downregulates the level of inflammatory factors in the patient's body, which has promotional value.
