Effect of Ginkgo Biloba Extract Combined with Betahistine on the Degree of Dizziness Disability and Recurrence Rate in Patients with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo After Otolith Reduction
Objective To investigate the effect of Ginkgo biloba extract combined with Betahistine on the degree of dizziness disability and recurrence rate in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV)after otolith reduction. Methods 60 patients with BPPV after otolith reduction admitted to the Third People's Hospital of Huangdao District from May 2022 to May 2023 were selected as the research subjects, divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups of patients were treated with manual reduction therapy, while the control group was also treated with Betahistine, the observation group was treated with Ginkgo biloba leaves in addition to the control group.Compare the degree of dizziness disability, vestibular function, cerebral artery blood flow velocity, and overall recurrence rate between two groups of patients. Results After treatment, the total recurrence rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, the difference between groups was statistically significant(P<0.05);After treatment,The Vestibular Symptom Index score and Dizziness Handicap Inventory score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences between groups were statistically significant(P<0.05);After treatment, the cerebral artery blood flow velocity in the observation group was faster than that in the control group, the difference between groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of Ginkgo biloba extract and Betahistine in the treatment of BPPV after otolith reduction can help improve the degree of dizziness in patients, strengthen their balance and vestibular functions, regulate cerebral arterial blood flow velocity, and reduce the recurrence rate.It is worth promoting.
