Effects of Ziprasidone and Risperidone on Cognitive Function in Patients with Schizophrenia
Objective To explore the effects of ziprasidone and risperidone on cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia. Methods 60 patients with schizophrenia admitted to the Psychiatric Department of Hailaer District People's Hospital of Hulunbuir City,Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from October 2021 to May 2023 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with risperidone and the observation group was treated with ziprasidone. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The therapeutic effect, cognitive function, psychiatric symptoms and safety of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 96.67%,which was higher than 86.67%of the control group, but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the scores of Wisconsin Card Sorting Test(WCST)between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment, the total number of correct responses, the number of sustained responses and the number of completed classification in the observation group were more than those in the control group, while the total number of false responses and the number of sustained errors were less than those in the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the Positive And Negative Syndrome scale(PANSS)scores between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment, the scores of positive symptoms, negative symptoms and general pathological symptoms of PANSS in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),but there were no statistically significant differences in various scores between the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 13.33%,lower than 30.00%in the control group, but there was no statistical significance between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Ziprasidone and risperidone can achieve similar clinical effects in the treatment of schizophrenia patients, and both can reduce their mental symptoms, but ziprasidone has a more significant effect on improving cognitive function, and relatively few adverse reactions.
