Improvement Effect of Liqi Tongfu Decoction Combined with Abdominal Acupuncture on Anxiety and Depression in Elderly Patients with Functional Constipation
Objective To study the effect of Liqi Tongfu Decoction combined with abdominal acupuncture on improving anxiety and depression in elderly patients with functional constipation.Methods A total of 90 elderly patients with functional constipation treated in our hospital from October 2021 to October 2022 were selected as the research objects.Randomly divide 90 elderly patients into a control group and an observation group according to the two-color sphere method.The control group(n=45)received conventional western medicine treatment,and the observation group(n=45)received Liqi Tongfu Decoction combined with abdominal acupuncture treatment.Compare two groups of symptoms and signs of integral,rectal sensation,rectal anal pressure results,serological related,clinical efficacy,safety of therapy,and Patient-Reported Outcome of Chronic Constipation Rating Scale(CC-PRO)score.Results When joining the group,the scores of symptoms and signs inall aspects,rectal sensory threshold,defecation sensory threshold and maximum tolerable dose were compared between the two groups,and there was no statistically significant differences between groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,th e scores of symptoms and signs inall aspects,rectal sensory threshold,defecation sensory threshold and maximum tolerance in observation group were lower than those in control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).When joining the group,there were no significant differences in the levels of vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),motilin(MTL),gastrin(GAS),substance P(SP)between the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the rectal systolic pressure,anal residual pressure,VIP,and 5-HT levels in the observation group were(40.18±8.06)mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa),(48.92±8.11)mmHg,(13.92±2.24)ng/L,and(212.40±17.16)ng/L,respectively,lower than(51.34±10.20)mmHg,(64.50±10.61)mmHg,(17.36±3.02)ng/L,and(251.26±20.30)ng/L in the control group,the levels of MTL,GAS,SP and total effective rate were(193.48±30.45)ng/L,(43.40±7.12)ng/L,(36.50±5.28)ng/L,and 95.56%,respectively,which were higher than the control group's(159.62±25.37)ng/L,(36.69±6.28)ng/L,(31.66±4.19)ng/L,and 80.00%,respectively,the differences between groups were statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in treatment safety between the two groups(P＞0.05).When joining the group,comparison of scores for various dimensions of CC-PRO between two groups,there were no statistically significant differences between groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the CC-PRO scores in all dimensions of the observation group were higher than those in the control group,the differences between groups were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Liqi Tongfu Decoction combined with abdominal acupuncture is safe and effective in the treatment of elderly patients with functional constipation,and is conducive to the improvement of clinical symptoms and rectal sensory function,and can regulate gastrointestinal neurotransmitters and improve the quality of life.
