Clinical Efficacy of Mecobalamin Combined with Epalrestat in the Treatment of Diabetes Peripheral Neuropathy and Its Influence on Patients'Oxidative Stress Indicators
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of mecobalamin combined with epalrestat in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods A total of 50 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy admitted to the hospital from March 2022 to March 2023 were selected as the research objects and were divided into a control group(n=25)and an observation group(n=25)according to random number table method. The control group was treated with mecobalamin, and the observation group was treated with epalrestat on this basis. The clinical efficacy, oxidative stress indicators, neurological symptoms, nerve conduction velocity and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 84.00%,higher than 56.00%of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the serum malondialdehyde level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the superoxide dismutase level and Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument score were lower than those in the control group, the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the motor nerve conduction velocities and sensory nerve conduction velocities of median nerve and common peroneal nerve of the observation group were faster than those of the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Mecobalamin combined with epalrestat is an effective treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients, which can regulate oxidative stress response, improve nerve conduction velocity, and has high safety.
