The Effect of Oral Treatment with Idebenone on Cognitive Function and Sleep Quality in Elderly Parkinson's Disease Patients
Objective To explore the effects of oral treatment with idebenone on cognitive function and sleep quality in elderly patients with Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods Selecting 80 PD patients admitted to our hospital from October 2021 to January 2023 as the research subjects, they were divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with levodopa and benserazide hydrochloride tablets, while the observation group was treated with an additional dose of idebenone in addition to the control group. Two groups of continuous treatment for 12 months.Compare the neurocytokines, oxidative stress indicators, cognitive function, sleep quality, and adverse reactions between the two groups. Results After treatment, the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and nerve growth factor in both groups were higher than before treatment, and the observation group was higher than the control group, the differences was statistically significant(P<0.05);after treatment, the superoxide dimutase level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, while the malondialdehyde,8-hydroxydeoxyguanylic acid levels were lower than those in the control group, the differences between groups were statistically significant(P<0.05);after treatment, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale score was lower than that of the control group, the differences between groups were statistically significant(P<0.05);comparison of nausea, dizziness, bloating, and diarrhea between two groups, there was no statistically significant differences between groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Oral treatment with idebenone can regulate neurocytokines, improve oxidative stress indicators, cognitive function, and sleep quality in elderly PD patients, and with fewer adverse reactions.
