Cervical Lymph Node Characteristics in Patients with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Their Relationship with the Expression Levels of WPOI-5 and DOK4 were Analyzed Based on Proteomics
Objective Exploring the relationship between cervical lymph node characteristics and the expression levels of worst pattern of invasion type-5(WPOI-5)and downstream of tyrosine kinase/docking protein 4(DOK4)in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)through proteomic analysis. Methods A total of 90 patients with OSCC admitted to the Second People's Hospital of Kashgar from January 2022 to February 2023 were selected as the research objects, according to the presence or absence of lymph node involvement, they were divided into a metastasis group(n=44)and a non-metastasis group(n=46).The clinical indicators, lymph node characteristics, biomarkers and prognostic indicators of the two groups were compared, and the relationship between the expression levels of WPOI-5 and DOK4 and lymph node metastasis was analyzed. Results There was no significant difference in tumor location, tumor size and TNM stage between the two groups(P>0.05);the lymph node size, lymph node palpation hardness and lymph node activity score in the metastasis group were higher than those in the non-metastasis group, and the number of lymph node metastasis was higher than that in the non-metastasis group, the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05);the expression level of WPOI-5 in the metastasis group was higher than that in the non-metastasis group, and the expression level of DOK4 protein in the metastasis group was lower than that in the non-metastasis group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05);the overall survival,disease-free survival and average recurrence time of the metastasis group were shorter than those of the non-metastasis group, and the tumor recurrence rate was higher than that of the non-metastasis group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05);lymph node metastasis was positively correlated with WPOI-5 and DOK4 levels, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The characteristics of cervical lymph nodes, such as size, stiffness, and mobility,as well as the expression levels of WPOI-5 and DOK4 proteins, were closely related to lymph node metastasis in patients with OSCC.Lymph node metastasis has a significant impact on the prognosis of patients, resulting in decreased overall survival and disease-free survival. Therefore, these indicators can help to evaluate the condition and prognosis of OSCC patients and become potential therapeutic targets.
