Effect of Propranolol Assisted Methimazole in the Treatment of Hyperthyroidism and Its Influence on Thyroid Function,Calcium and Phosphorus Metabolism
Objective To investigate the effect of propranolol assisted methimazole in the treatment of hyperthyroidism and its influence on thyroid function, calcium and phosphorus metabolism. Methods Sixty patients with hyperthyroidism who received treatment in Jinxiang People's Hospital from October 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with methimazole, and the observation group was treated with propranolol on the basis of the control group, both groups were treated for 3 months. The clinical efficacy, thyroid function, calcium and phosphorus metabolism levels and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 96.67%,which was higher than 73.33%of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of free triiodothyroxine, free thyroxine and blood phosphorus in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the levels of serum thyrotropin and blood calcium were higher than those in the control group, the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Propranolol combined with methimazole is effective in the treatment of hyperthyroidism, which can improve thyroid function and regulate calcium and phosphorus metabolism with less adverse reactions.
