Effect of Minocycline Combined with One-Time Root Canal Therapy on Periodontal Status and Pain Degree of Patients with Retrograde Pulpitis
Objective To investigate the effect of minocycline combined with one-time root canal therapy in retrograde pulpitis. Methods A total of 82 patients with retrograde pulpitis treated in Yuncheng County People's Hospital from January 2021 to January 2024 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to random number table method, with 41 cases in each group. The control group received one-time root canal therapy, and the observation group received minocycline treatment on the basis of the control group. The clinical effect, periodontal status, inflammation factors level, pain degree, clinical symptom and masticatory function were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of observation group was 80.49%,which was higher than 95.12%of control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of plaque index, gingival index, periodontal pocket depth and gingival sulcus bleeding index in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-2 and C-reactive protein were lower than those in the control group, the periodontal swelling, periodontal loosening, periodontal pain score and Visual Analogue Scale score were lower than those in the control group, the chewing efficiency was higher than that in the control group, and the biting force was higher than that in the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Minocycline combined with one-time root canal therapy can improve the clinical effect of retrograde pulpitis patients, reduce the level of inflammation factors, relieve the pain of affected teeth, and promote the recovery of masticatory function.
