Clinical Value of Awakening Brain and Opening Mind Acupuncture Method Combined with Respiratory Swallowing Coordination Training in Promoting Functional Recovery of Stroke Patients with Swallowing Dysfunction
Objective To explore the clinical value of the combination of Awakening Brain and Opening Mind acupuncture method and respiratory swallowing coordination training in promoting functional recovery of stroke patients with swallowing dysfunction. Methods A total of 86 patients with stroke and swallowing dysfunction admitted to our hospital from November 2022 to November 2023 were selected as the research subjects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 43 cases in each group. The control group received respiratory swallowing coordination training, while the observation group received a combination of Awakening Brain and Opening Mind acupuncture method combined with respiratory swallowing coordination training intervention. The intervention period was 4 weeks. The swallowing function, tongue muscle strength, and quality of life between the two groups were compared. Results Before the intervention, the swallowing function, tongue muscle strength, and quality of life between the two groups had no statistically significant differences (P>0.05);after intervention, the Standardized Swallowing Assessment and water swallow test scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, while the Functional Oral Intake Scale and Swallowing Quality of Life scores were higher than those of the control group, the peak tongue pressure was (50.28 ±5.67)kPa, and the average tongue pressure was (45.62±4.58)kPa, which was higher than the control group's (41.52±5.23)kPa and (37.89±4.15) kPa, the duration of tongue pressure was (19.47±3.54)s, which was longer than the control group's (15.12±3.11)s, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of Awakening the Brain and Opening the Mind acupuncture method and respiratory swallowing coordination training can improve the swallowing function of brain stroke patients with swallowing dysfunction, enhance the tongue muscle strength and improve the quality of life.
