Effects of Repeated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Combined with Olanzapine on Psychiatric Symptoms and Cognitive Function in Patients with Schizophrenia
Objective To investigate the effects of repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) combined with olanzapine on psychiatric symptoms and cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia (SCH).Methods A total of 70 SCH patients admitted to the hospital from January 2019 to October 2023 were selected as the study objects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to random number table method, with 35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with olanzapine tablets, and the observation group was treated with rTMS combined with olanzapine. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. The mental symptoms, cognitive function and social function of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the total scores of positive symptoms, negative symptoms, general psychopathology, positive and negative symptom scales in the observation group were (16.18±2.24) points, (14.37±1.47) points, (26.26±2.82) points and (34.26±3.21) points, respectively, which were lower than (19.07±4.64) points, (18.05±2.16) points, (30.84 ±4.64) points and (39.19 ±3.52) points in the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of the Mini-Mental State Examination and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment in the observation group were (22.46±2.14) points and (22.35±1.46) points, respectively, which were higher than (19.47±1.21) points and (18.27±1.05) points in the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05).After treatment, the score of personal and social performance scale in the observation group was (65.92±7.23) points, which was higher than (58.37 ±6.46) points in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion rTMS combined with olanzapine can effectively improve the mental state, cognitive function and social function of SCH patients.
