Effect of Endoscopic Surgery on Patients with Chronic Sinusitis and Nasal Polyps
Objective To explore the effect of endoscopic surgery in patients with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps(CRSwNP).Methods A total of 86 cases of CRSwNP admitted to the hospital from October 2022 to October 2023 were selected as the research subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 43 cases in each group. The control group received traditional open surgery treatment, while the observation group received nasal endoscopic surgery treatment. The postoperative pain, olfactory function, nasal ventilation function and complications were compared between the two groups. Results After 3 days of surgery, the pain Visual Analogue Scole score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before surgery, there was no statistically significant difference in the olfactory function scores between the two groups(P>0.05);one month after surgery, the olfactory function scores of both groups were lower than before surgery, and the olfactory function scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Before surgery, there was no statistically significant difference in the scores of minimum cross-sectional area of the nasal cavity(NMCA),nasal volume(NCV),and Sinus Outcome Test-20(SNOT-20)scale score between the two groups(P>0.05);1 month after surgery, the NMCA,NCV were greater than before surgery, and SNOT-20 scores of both groups was lower than before surgery, and the observation group had a higher postoperative NMCA and NCV than the control group, while the SNOT-20 score was lower than the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The total incidence of complications in the observation group was 6.98%,which was lower than the control group's 23.26%,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Nasal endoscopic surgery for CRSwNP patients can alleviate postoperative pain, improve nasal ventilation function, olfactory function, and quality of life, and reduce the incidence of complications.
