Effect of Modified Sangbaipi Decoction Combined with Acupoint Application on Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Scores and Inflammatory Indicators in Patients with Acute Exacerbation Period of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with Phlegm Heat Obstr
Objective To explore the clinical effect of modified Sangbaipi Decoction combined with acupoint application in the treatment of patients with acute exacerbation period of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) with phlegm heat obstruction in the lungs. Methods A total of 82 AECOPD patients admitted to Dongzhi County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Dongzhi County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the research objects and divided into a control group and an observation group with 41 cases in each group, using a random number table method. The control group received routine treatment, while the observation group was treated with modified Sangbaipi Decoction combined with acupoint application on the basis of the control group, both groups received continuous treatment for 14 days. Compare the clinical efficacy, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score, inflammation indicators, lung function indicators, and adverse reactions between two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After 14 days of treatment, the observation group had lower scores for symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, difficulty coughing with yellow phlegm, and restlessness due to body heat compared to the control group, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (P<0.05);the levels of interleukin-6,interleukin-8,and tumor necrosis factor-a in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05);the forced vital capacity (FVC),forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) were greater than those of the control group and FEV1/FVC of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05). There were no significant adverse reactions observed in either group. Conclusion The combination of modified Sangbaipi Decoction and acupoint application can improve the therapeutic effect of AECOPD patients, reduce traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, accelerate inflammation resolution, alleviate pulmonary dysfunction, and is safe and reliable.
