Effect of Warming Acupuncture and Moxibustion Combined with Acupoint Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Facial Nerve Function in Patients with Peripheral Facial Paralysis of Wind Cold Attacking Collateral Type
Objective To explore the effect of warming acupuncture and moxibustion combined with acupoint application of traditional Chinese medicine on facial nerve function in patients with peripheral facial paralysis of wind cold attacking collateral type. Methods Selecting 60 patients with peripheral facial paralysis of wind cold attacking collateral type admitted to Zhongshan District People's Hospital in Liupanshui City from October 2021 to October 2023 as the research subjects, divide them into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional methods, while the observation group added warming acupuncture and moxibustion combined with acupoint application of traditional Chinese medicine on the basis of the control group. Compare the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores,Sunnybrook Facial Nerve Score, peak systolic velocity (Vs) of facial artery, end diastolic velocity (Vd) of facial artery, resistance index (RI) of facial artery, and Facial dysfunction Index (FDI) between two groups. Results After two courses of treatment, the observation group had lower scores in terms of mouth and eye deviation, increased eye fissures, disappearance of affected frontal folds, and difficulty in closing eyelids compared to the control group, the Sunnybrook score was higher than that of the control group, the Vs and Vd of facial artery were faster than those in the control group, the RI of facial artery level was lower than that of the control group,FDI score was higher than that in the control group, the differences between groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Warm acupuncture and moxibustion combined with acupoint application of traditional Chinese medicine intervention can promote the recovery of facial nerve function in patients with peripheral facial paralysis of wind cold attacking collateral type, improve facial blood circulation, reduce symptoms and facial paralysis degree.
