Effect of UBE Technique in the Treatment of Elderly Patients with Degenerative Lumbar Spinal Stenosis
Objective To investigate the effect of unilateral biportal endoscopy (UBE) technique in the treatment of senile degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). Methods One hundred and twenty-two senile degenerative LSS patients admitted to Xiajin County People's Hospital from August 2021 to August 2023 were selected as the study objects,and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to random number table method,with 61 cases in each group. The control group was treated with open posterior lumbar laminectomy and internal fixation,and the observation group was treated with UBE technique. The operation status,pain degree,lumbar spine function,ability of daily living,dysfunction and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time and hospital stay in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group,and the intraoperative blood loss and postoperative drainage volume were less than those in the control group,the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). 1 day and 7 days after operation,the pain Visual Analogue Scale scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group,and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). After 3 months of operation,the Japanese Orthopaedic Association lumbar function scores and total score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05);the Barthel Index score of the observation group was (86.55±6.34) points,which was higher than (80.47±6.12) points of the control group,and the Oswestry Disability Index score was (10.35±1.22) points,which was lower than (11.89±1.25) points of the control group,the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion UBE technique is more effective in the treatment of senile degenerative LSS,which can alleviate surgical trauma,reduce postoperative pain score,facilitate the recovery of lumbar function,which is safe and reliable.
