Effect of Triamcinolone and Econazole in the Treatment of Fungal Otitis Externa by Endoscopy in the External Ear Canal
Objective To analyze the effect of external ear canal infusion of triamcinolone acetonide and econazole cream under ear endoscopy on patients with fungal otitis externa. Methods A total of 262 patients with fungal otitis externa admitted to the Third People's Hospital of Shen County from February 2023 to January 2024 were selected as the research objects and they were divided into a control group and an observation group according to random number table method, with 131 cases in each group. The control group received simple external ear canal irrigation under ear endoscopy, while the observation group received external ear canal irrigation with triamcinolone acetonide and econazole cream. The clinical efficacy, symptom improvement, inflammatory factor levels and recurrence were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 97.71%,which was higher than 92.37% of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The improvement time of ear pain, tinnitus, and ear tightness symptoms in the observation group was (4.36±0.87)days,(5.63±1.12)days,and (5.94±1.28)days,respectively,which were shorter than (6.25±1.38)days,(7.45±1.59)days,and (8.33±1.64)days of the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). The recurrence rate of the observation group was 3.05%,which was lower than 9.92% of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of tumor necrosis factor-a (6.24±1.20)pg/mL,interleukin-6 (15.27±2.18)pg/mL,and C-reactive protein (7.36±1.21)mg/L in the observation group were all lower than (10.53±1.67)pg/mL,(21.36±2.59)pg/mL,and (12.24±1.65)mg/L in the control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Endoscopic infusion of triamcinolone acetonide and econazole cream into the external ear canal can alleviate symptoms and inflammatory reactions in patients with fungal otitis media, and has a low recurrence rate. It has certain application value and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
