Effects of Capsaicin Stimulation Combined with Active Cough Training on Swallowing Function and Peak Cough Flow in Patients with Dysphagia
Objective To explore the effect of capsaicin stimulation combined with active cough training on patients with dysphagia. Methods A total of 76 patients with dysphagia treated in Kunshan Rehabilitation Hospital from January 2022 to March 2024 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to random number table method, with 38 cases in each group. The control group received routine rehabilitation training, and the observation group received capsaicin stimulation combined with active cough training on the basis of the control group, both groups continued to train for 4 weeks. The swallowing function, peak cough flow, feeding capacity and occurrence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results After intervention, the drinking water test grade of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P﹤0.05);peak cough flow and Functional Oral Intake Scale scores in observation group were higher than those in control group, and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P﹤0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group was 5.26%,which was lower than 21.05%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P﹤0.05).Conclusion Capsaicin stimulation combined with active cough training can improve the swallowing function, increase the peak cough flow, improve the feeding capacity and reduce the occurrence of complications in patients with swallowing disorders.
