Objective To explore the serum levels of testosterone, estradiol and prolactin in the male patients with schizophrenia and the effects of second generation antipsychotica drugs on them. Methods All 85 male patients with schizophrenia were randomly assigned to risperidone group (42 cases) treated with risperidone and olanzapine group (43 cases) treated with olanzapine for 8 weeks. The electro chemiluminescence immune assay( ECLIA) was used to detect serum testosterone, estradiol and prolactin levels respectively before and after treatment, and with 60 healthy controls for comparison. Rssults After treatment, the serum levels of testosterone, estradiol and prolactin were higher than before treatment (P<0.05). But in risperidone group, the levels changed distinctly, it had statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion Risperidone and olanzapine had different impact of level on sexual hor-mones in treatment of male schizophrenia, but it had a lot of influential factors.
