Geological Characteristics and Genesis of Mezhong Beryllium Deposit in Yongchun County,Fujian Province
The Mezhong beryllium deposit in Yongchun county,Fujian Province,is located in middle section of volcanic fault-depression zone in East Fujian. The beryllium ore bodies are mostly hosted in the limestone interbedded with calcareous sandstone of Lower Permian Chuanshan Formation-Middle Permian Qixia Formation of the outer contact zone of the Early Cretaceous syenogranite. The main beryllium ore minerals are beryl and phenakite, which closely coexist with fluorite and topaz minerals. The mineralization process went through prograde skarn stage, retrograde skarn stage, and carbonate stage.Beryllium mineralization mainly occurs in the retrograde skarn stage. The preliminary study shows that, the ore genesis of Mezhong beryllium deposit may be closely related to the Early Cretaceous highly fractionated granitic magmatic activities, which is the product of metasomatism and alteration of calcareous wall rocks by F-rich ore-bearing hydrothermal fluids and genetic type of deposit belongs to the skarn type beryllium deposit. The discovery of the Meizhong beryllium deposit and its ore genesis research can provided new directions for the next exploration work in the region.
