Evaluation method of vortex dangerous areas of UAV swarms in urban air mobility
In order to avoid the situation of encountering hazardous vortex effects generated by UAV swarms in urban air mobility(UAM),the damage area of complex wake vortex field caused by UAV swarms is evaluated.Firstly, based on single UAV,vortex circulation and induced velocity models that apply to the UAV swarms are established.Secondly,an assessment of the safe flight region for followers is conducted by calculating the roll moment coefficient.Lastly,an exploration is undertak-en to understand the impact of followers'flight speed, wing length, and wing area on the danger zones. The results show that the follower is considered safe when flies in an area which is greater than 4.5 times of the width of the rotorcraft flight path and is greater than 2.33 times of the width of the fixed-wing UAV flight path. When the speed or wingspan of the follower triples, the area cov-ered by the danger zone will be reduced to 1/3 of its original size. The wing area is found to have no effect on the size of the danger zone. The model provides a better estimation of the safe position of the follower in a complex wake field, and also provides navigation guidance for UAVs.
