Simultaneous determination of arsenic and mercury in coal by atomic fluorescence spectrometry with aqua regia extraction
Aqua regia in water bath was used in extracting arsenic(As)and mercury(Hg)in coal, combined with atomic fluorescence spectrometry, the contents of As and Hg were simultaneous determined. The experimental conditions including the type, dosage, and extraction time of the extractant were optimized. The detection limits of arsenic and mercury were 1.35 μg/kg and 0.45 μg/kg.Six parallel determinations and recovery experiments were conducted on coal reference materials and actual coal samples. The relative standard deviations were less than 3.8%in reference materials and less than 4.5%in actual samples, the recovery rates of As and Hg ranging in 93%—105%.The results showed that extraction of As and Hg in the coal samples by aqua regia water bath was with the advantages of simple work and high extraction efficiency.Combined with atomic fluorescence spectrometry, the requirement of rapid and simultaneous determination of As and Hg in coal can be satisfied.
