The effect of social support on life satisfaction of university students with psychological distress:the mediating role of hope
To explore the relationship between social support and life satisfaction of university students with psychological distress and the mediating role of hope, the study conducted a questionnaire survey on university students from 12 undergraduate universities in the eastern provinces of China by simple random sampling, social support questionnaire, hope questionnaire, and life satisfaction questionnaire were selected, and valid questionnaires from 422 volunteers of university students with psychologi-cal distress were collected. The results showed that social support and life satisfaction of psychologically disturbed university stu-dents were positively correlated(r=0.401,P<0.01),hope was positively correlated with life satisfaction(r=0.358,P<0.01),and hope had a partially mediating role between social support and life satisfaction. The partial mediating effect of hope on the relationship between social support and life satisfaction among university students with psychological distress, indicates that in-creasing hope among university students with psychological distress helps them to better improve life satisfaction and optimize negative mental health after receiving social support.
