As the decreasing birth rate and accelerating aging process,the research on improving male reproductive ability has taken extensive attention in recently years.As a new marker for sperm quality evaluation,sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) has been increasingly used in semen samples detection of male infertility.With the publication of clinical expert consensus on sperm DNA fragmentation detection in 2023,it provides the basis and standard for sperm DFI to clinical evaluation and treatment of male infertility.This review briefly summarizes the research progress on the relationship between sperm DFI and assisted reproductive technique (ART) treatment outcome,the consistency between sperm DFI and sperm parameters,and the evaluation of clinical sperm DFI detection methods in recent years.
