Identification and Bioinformatic Analysis of the Expansin Gene Family in Cucumber
As an important component of plant cell wall, expansins have effects on loosening and increasing the flexibility of cell wall, and are thought to have function in many process of plant growth and development. To study potential function ofexpansin gene family in cucumber, we investigated expansin gene family with the whole genome database to analyse its structure and phylogenetic relationship.Whole genome sequencing of cucumber revealed it contained 35 expansin genes which belonged to 4 subfamilies (EXPA (21), EXPB (3), EXLA (9) and EXLB (2)) located on 7 different chromosomes. Each of expansin proteins ranged from 206 aa to 295 aa in size and had conserved domains. All 35 expansin proteins were predicted to localize in extracellular.Gene structure analysis revealed that average intron number of four subfamily was 1.8 (EXPA), 2.7 (EXPB), 3.8 (EXPA) and 3.5 (EXPB),respectively.Transcriptome analysis showed that the expansin genes expressed highly in female and male flower buds, and fruit development process. The results here displayed the basic information of cucumber expansin superfamily which could be a good platform for the gene evolution and function study in future.
