Comparative Assay and Comprehensive Evaluation of Drought and Cold Resistance in Six Flue-cured Tobacco Varieties at Seedling Stage
Drought and low temperature are important stress factors affecting the production and quality of tobacco leaves. In order to provide theoretical references for tobacco breeding and cultivation, drought and cold resistance of six tobacco varieties were comprehensively evaluated according to the physiological indexes including water content, relative conductivity, proline, soluble sugar and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in tobacco leaves under drought and low temperature stresses. The results showed that under drought and low temperature stresses, the leaf water content declined significantly, while the relative conductivity, proline, soluble sugar and MDA content increased obviously, and there were significant difference about these physiolegical indexes among the six varieties. The membership function value of each index was calculated by the membership function method, and the drought and cold resistance of the 6 flue-cured tobacco varieties were ranked. In general, the tobacco variety Danyu No.2 scored the relatively highest drought and cold resistance simultaneously.
