Comprehensive Evaluation of Ornamental Traits in Cymbidium eburneum×Cymbidium insigne
In order to fully exploit the resources of Hainan wild orchid and effectively protect the germplasm re-sources of Hainan wild orchid, the hybridization breeding of Hainan native species Cymbidium eburneum and Cymbidium insigne was carried out.In this study, seven individuals from the F1 generation of Cymbidium eburneum×Cymbidium insigne, the native species of Hainan, were chosen as materials, using principal component analysis, the comprehensive evaluation of 20 traits of plant morphology and flower traits was carried out.The results showed that in addition to the consistent flower development, there were significant differences among the seven individuals in different 19 traits, the coefficient of variation ranged from 7.56%to 71.63%.The 20 traits could be divided into 5 component factors, including flower number factor, flower shape factor, flower fragrance factor, flower color factor, flower branch factor, and the cumulative contribution rate of 5 component factors was 95.62%.Principal compo-nent method was used to calculate the principal component scores of each line, and two hybrid lines with good or-namental characters were screened out.The results can provide important basis for the breeding of new orchids.
