Genetic Improvement of Landscape Plants in Planning and Design:Improvement of Ornamental and Resistance as an Example
This study aims to explore the application of genetic improvement in landscape plants within garden planning and design, particularly emphasizing its potential in enhancing ornamental value and stress resistance. The research found that through genetic modification, plants with richer flower colors, leaf types, and growth habits can be obtained, thereby enriching the diversity of landscape design. At the same time, genetic improvement can also elevate plants'resistance to challenges such as drought, cold, and pests, reducing the cost and comple-xity of garden maintenance. However, the application of this technology also faces challenges like biodiversity reduction and potential environmental risks. Therefore, this study calls for a cautious approach to applying genetic improvement technology and advocates for interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve a balance between garden design and ecological sustainability.
