Effect and Mechanism of Maltol on Exercise Ability and Energy Metabolism in Endurance Training Rats
Maltol(Mal,3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4-pyrone)derived from wheat is a bioactive compound, and this study aims to reveal its effects and mechanisms on exercise ability and energy metabolism.Through research,it has been found that the supplementation of maltol dose-dependently prolonged the exhaustion time and significantly improved their exercise ability. In addition, the supplementation of maltol reduced the indicators of muscle damage, indicating its potential for protecting muscles.Further research reveals that maltol derived from wheat enhances glycogen reserves and fat mobilization, promotes energy supply, and helps alleviate oxidative damage by inhibiting oxidative stress.Molecular mechanism research has found that maltol derived from wheat regulates multiple genes related to energy metabolism, including SIRT1,PGC-1α,HK2 as well as GLUT-4,and AMPK jointly promote the improvement of energy metabolism.Overall, maltol derived from wheat may serve as a potential exercise supplement, improving exercise ability, protecting muscles, and increasing energy reserves through various pathways. This study will provide more scientific basis for the application of maltol derived from wheat, and also provide useful information for further research in the field of molecular plant breeding.
