Balancing Seed Intellectual Property Rights and Farmers'Interests
This study delves into the issue of balancing seed intellectual property rights and farmers'interests.Through literature analysis, questionnaire surveys, and case studies,we find that seed intellectual property rights policies have complex and varied impacts on different regions and societies.Farmers express concerns that these policies may lead to higher seed prices and reduced seed selection choices. However, some farmers believe that patented seed varieties generally offer better performance. The study highlights the critical role of policy, market, and social factors in influencing the balance between seed intellectual property rights and farmers'interests.Govern-ments should strive to strike a balance between protecting intellectual property rights and safeguarding farmers'in-terests while also regulating markets to prevent monopolies and unfair competition.Based on our research findings,we propose policy recommendations aimed at achieving equilibrium between intellectual property protection and farmers'interests, promoting sustainable agriculture, and advancing social justice.Future research should expand its scope, increase sample sizes, and delve deeper into the effects of different intellectual property policies on farmers and agriculture.
